The developer did a very good job at the task, and fixed some unforeseen problems and did additional researching, which in turn fixed a problem on another project as well. The project was delayed a liittle which was due to misinformation from my side - but no complaints from developer. :-)

Well, this is the session problem. I think that Joomla have unnecessary indexes on jos_session table. This table is very often overhead, and thus giving you a problem.
